Introducing: Zen Coffee Company
We here at the Habdash Camp like to think of ourselves as somewhat of coffee aficionados. Because of that, we tend to keep our eyes out for new coffee shops that pop up around our area! I stumbled upon Zen Coffee Co while scrolling the explore page on Instagram, and wanted to make it out as soon as I possibly could! While the Grand Opening events aren't scheduled to start until June 23rd, they have been open since June 12th. Louise and I made it out that first week and instantly fell in love!
When we walked in the vibe of the whole place was so pleasant and relaxing. We were greeted by the owner and a barista who happily answered all of our questions about their menu. They have every classic drink you could ever want from a coffee shop and more, but their "Specialties" menu is a thing of beauty! They have many classic lattes, even an all year round Pumpkin Spice ;) However, on top of those, they have a handful of latte drinks I've only seen there before. They include Caramel Dream, Butter Beer, White Rose, and Honey Bee. I happened to order Honey Bee because hello....that's the cutest latte name maybe EVER. It had subtle hints of honey mixed with cinnamon and such a creamy texture. I loved it. Louise gets a little obsessive about lemonade in the summer, and so she tried their Lavender Lemonade and LOVED it. I really look forward to trying more of their menu!
Along with the creative and delicious drinks you can also enjoy baked goods from Omaha famous Sweet Magnolia's Bake Shop and the Garden Café. Louise chose the Morning Glory muffin, and I had to try out the last homemade pop tart! It was peach filling and the best thing I ate all week, no joke. They seem to try to feature as much locally sourced products as possible! They use milk from Highland Farms in Nebraska, and coffee blends from mostly local Omaha roasters, like all of their custom flavored blends are from Premier Blends right here in town. They do offer other blends from a place called Dapper & Wise Roasters from Oregon. I want to try them all!
Like I said previously, Zen Coffee Co is probably one of the most pleasant coffee shops I've ever walked into. The aesthetic is bright, yet cozy, welcoming, and it's absolutely beautiful everywhere you look. There are local artists work along every wall, windows surrounding the main sitting area, and a more secluded couch area closer to the ordering counter, and even a tiny little kids table! I could not get over that. It's the type of unexpected place that you find to relax alone and get some work done, or catch up with friends. One of my favorite places was a hutch that house many pieces of printed artwork from an artist from Oregon, along with their in house bags of coffee beans, two water dispensers, and cream/sugar for your coffee!
I am truly impressed by this new shop that's popped up on 25th and Farnam! Make sure you stop by any time between June 23rd-June 30th to join in on all the Grand Opening hubub! There'll be free samples, bogo deals, and more! And check out all the info and coffees available to order from their website here. Let me know in the comments below if you visit and how you liked it!
