BTS: Summer '15 Photoshoot
On June 18th we had our photoshoot for our summer line. Because of some last-minute scheduling conflicts we had to scramble to make sure we would be able to pull it off in time to get our new line out by July 1st, but thanks to our awesome models, amazing makekup/hair stylist, and our fantastic photographer we were able to pull it off, and we are SO pleased with the results!
For the shoot myself (Breanna), our hairdresser/makeup artist (Isobel Meyo), and two of our models (Tony Tomasiewicz and Kristen Meisenheimer) drove down to meet our photographer (Yoni Gill) and our other two models (Eric Martens and Kayla Van Wie). We did our product photos first, in Yoni's apartment and everyone did such a great job. Yoni had good ideas on how to give our product photos some more life by having the models have fun with the shoot!
Here are some behind the camera/outtakes from the product photos:
After the product photos we ventured into downtown Lincoln/the Haymarket area for our lookbook photos. Having a lookbook is really important to us because not only are they probably the most fun part of our shoots, but they also show you how we envisioned our clothes to look out in the wild. We take a lot of time planning the outfits, and working with the models to try to capture our styles and concepts. Of course not everything always works out exactly as we initially think it will, but sometimes that's for the better! Everything in this business is a learning experience.
My other favorite part about any shoot is that sometimes our models are complete strangers to each other, but by the end of the shoot (even if only for a day), everyone is friends and we have all come together to make a beautiful thing. It's really inspiring to see and be a part of. Anyways, here are some awesome shots from the rest of the afternoon. Yoni, Isobel, and our models pulled off all three of these looks in about an hour and a half, and they absolutely killed it!
After everything was said and done, and we had wrapped up shooting, I had a mixture of feelings somewhere between relief and sadness that we were already done. Fortunately, I had a chance to eat my feelings away because we decided to go to LeadBelly's for dinner to celebrate the day! Kristen and Kayla had to leave because they both had other things going on (and we had already kept them an extra 30 minutes late -- sorry guys!), but the rest of us completely pigged out and then parted ways. For those of us Omaha-ians, we didn't get home until about 11, and I have to say it was very satisfying going to sleep that night.
Shoot days are always stressful, but we wouldn't be able to do them without all of the help and support we get from everyone involved. I wanna give a couple of special shout outs - to Yoni for capturing our clothes exactly how we wanted them to be seen and getting us the final versions (and all of our extra requests) quickly so that we could launch our line in time, and to Isobel for always dropping whatever you're doing to come and help us whether it's a shoot or booth or anything in between. Ashli and I both are so thankful to you, as well as our models (some of who got on board to be part of the shoot just hours before we started).
Also, I want to say thanks to you for reading this blog, supporting our dreams, and being a part of our lives by engaging with us and helping push us to build our business stronger and better.
Peace and blessings,
